Boredom Buster

Well, ya'll know I have a quest to keep the big kids up till two, even though they'd happily go down before twelve. Back home Nick almost always got home from work before four, so if I could just make it till two, I'd have peace and quiet until after he got home, and he pretty much took over once he did. What a guy. Well, my mom doesn't make it home till closer to five, but I'm not gonna chance napping them at three. I don't wanna be up till eleven with those kiddos!

So after lunch today, we went for a walk around our still-Katrina-devastated neighborhood. It's so depressing! It used to be such a beautiful place to be, and now there's empty lots with just the cement where the houses used to stand, and lots of houses STILL under renovation. Seriously? What's taking so long! It's been FOUR YEARS!!! (Yes, that's a work trailer in my parents' front yard, but they're just redoing the siding. The actual Katrina work has been done for years. So hush!)

Anyway, as I figured they would, the big kids got too tired to walk after about a third of the way. So they flipped for it, Ava lost, and Scott got to ride in the Ergo. Now, getting to ride in the Ergo is actually quite the prize, if I do say so myself. And let me tell you, there's a HUGE difference between pushing Warren in the double while we dilly-dally around looking at every stick on the sidewalk and pushing Ava and Warren in the double with Scott on my back at a less shameful speed. To say I broke a sweat would be putting it mildly. So there we have it. Another day, almost over. Eighteen more. Not that I'm counting or anything. And really, even after the eighteen, once we get to Guam, he's gonna be pretty much out of the picture. But at least the big kids will be back in preschool...
