Lights

I love Christmas.  Duh, everyone loves Christmas.  I especially love twinkle lights.  And I love being a grownup.  And Christmas combines all the best parts of everything.

Halloween isn't big here (plus it's a stupid holiday) and I've always ALWAYS wanted to just have a Christmas tree up for like six months.  In fact, I'd like one in every room please. One day.

Anyway, since I'm a grownup and I can do whatever I want (isn't being a grownup the best sometimes? All those people who would give an arm and a leg to go back to high school are smoking crack- I love being in charge) anyway, since I can do whatever I want, we set up the tree on Halloween.

Not like 'this year we set up the tree on Halloween.' Like, always.

We haven't always.  We used to be traditional conformists.  I used to think it was  rebellious to set it up the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Suckers.

Even the weekend after Thanksgiving (which is early for some people!!) only gives you like three or four weeks of twinkle lights!!! That's just crazy talk.

It mostly started out of necessity- we moved two years in a row over Christmas so it made sense to set up the tree early bc our holidays were being severely cut short.

Now, though, I just like it.

I like the ambiance of twinkle lights.  How pretentious do I sound? I like the way they look, and I like the way they make me feel.

Plus, I'm a grown ass lady and I do what I want.

Linking up with Mama Kat's Pretty Much World Famous Writer's Workshop with the prompt: write a post inspired by the word light. I sort of let it get away from me, but whatever.

  1. I like twinkle lights, too. We set up the tree in December like regular conformists, but keep it up until February, because everybody knows that you can't really truly enjoy the Christmas season until it's over.

    1. Ugh, that's where my husband finally gets on my nerves- he will want it down the day after Christmas. If I'm super sweet, I can get him to wait till New Year's Eve.

  2. I think that a grown ass lady should be able to put up her Christmas tree whenever she likes! I only put mine up in December but I have a string of lights wrapped around the head of my brass bed and turn those suckers on whenever I want all year round. ;)

  3. My aunt had a tree in every room, many covered with handmade ornaments. I wish I had learned her talents.

I hope it isn't long before you get a tree in every room, too.

    1. Me too. Sigh. I just need someone to give me two million dollars. Then life would be swell.

  5. I love the ambiance of twinkle lights, too. I like to sit in the dark listening to Christmas music and just looking at the glittering tree. In the dark lit only by Christmas sparkle there's magic.

  6. I have twinkle lights in my room all year long. I would not have a tree up that long though as I like the specialness of the season.
However, if I could put it up on Halloween, I would and be badass too! lol
I have people in my life though that this would just not do. So, Thanksgiving day or day after, that baby goes up and I enjoy my lights!

Great post...coming over from Mama Kat
